Overall, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie is an excellent and incredibly appropriate goodbye to Rise as an incarnation of New York's most incredible reptile role model and one of the year's most entertaining, hyperactive motion pictures. It doesn't matter if it seems less like an original movie and more like an extraordinary episode of the series to the kids this sequel of the Nickelodeon program is targeting. It's terrifyingly apocalyptic and seems to be on the verge of total collapse.
The rest of the movie lacks an apparent sense of urgency. The timeline for the movie's perspective is more interesting than the one for the present.
